The MGA 2019-2020 Golf Season Summary Our 2019-2020 MGA golf tournament season could be defined as truncated, being cut short by Covid 19. While your MGA Board had planned 10 events for the golf season, hoping for a good response from a cross section of our members, we were only able to conduct 8 of those events. We started with our opening day Shamble in October with 75 participants, 11 more than in 2018. That was followed by The MGA shootout in November with 66 players. Again, in November we held the rescheduled Senior Cup with 22 players. Next in December was the President's Cup with 27 players. In January we held the ever-popular Guest Day #1 with 87 players. Next in January we held the inaugural two-man handicap match play tournament with 16 teams, which concluded in March. The member-member was then held in February with 78 players. In March we held Guest Day #2 with 44 members and 54 guests participating. Then because of the Covid 19 pandemic, we had to cancel the club championship and the season ending ABCD shamble. While we were only able to conduct those eight events out of the ten planned events, we were pleased, and hope that the participants were also pleased, with each event. Because we did not conduct the last two scheduled events, we had in our treasury an extra $2,000. 00. Your MGA Board voted to use that money along with your raffle contributions and net funds from other tournament events to make the following contributions: a new bench for hole number 17 tee box; 100, 150 and 200 yard markers; $4,000.00 for the club's turf improvement project and $700.00 for the club's bougainvillea beautification project. Earlier in the year the MGA Board had donated $1,000.00 for the new tennis court. Please remember that when you participate in the MGA raffles you not only have a chance to win $50.00 or $100.00 but you are also making it possible for the MGA to donate for various club improvement projects. Please note that while your MGA Board plans and conducts each event, our Pro Brian Dahle manages each event. We thank Brian for his efforts, Dave Emmons our course superintendent, David Scott, our chef and Lynn Plummer, the food and beverage manager as well as the wait and bar staff at each of our luncheon events. Your MGA Board also has the responsibility to add and integrate new club members into the MGA. This year through the efforts of Steve Day we added 29 new members. Steve along with Chuck Snyder and Jay Sheldon are also contacting new club members, giving them an orientation on the various men's golf groups. For 2020-2021 please stay safe and stay healthy.
